Renée Stramel is a broad-ranging visual artist with a long commercial career in art publishing and licensing. Renée’s abstract work celebrates color and form characterized by a playful, expressive use of geometry and balances pure abstraction and stylized representations by intuitively blending organic shapes with geometric precision.
Color plays a central role, with bold, contrasting hues creating striking visual effects. Renée works in various media, including acrylic, watercolor, collage, digital and analog photography, and digital design.
Originally from Alexandria, VA, Renée has resided in Richmond for 38 years and lives in the Lakeside area with her filmmaker husband Jim Stramel. Inspiration comes from the films of the 1970s and 80s, Mother Nature, and mid-20th century graphic design, she works from her sunny studio creating works for residential and commercial clients.
