Li Gessbo is a contemporary equine artist from Uppsala, Sweden. As a former natural science illustrator and graphic designer is she now making the most expressive paintings, exploring the relationship between horses and humans.
The horse is a symbol and a creature that we can project both our dreams and fears on. Li moves in the borderland between abstract and figurative art. She wants to let emotion and intuition control the creative process and works consciously to focus on the expression of feelings and not to illustrate reality. Each artwork is a unique piece of contemporary art, it doesn’t look like anything else.
To capture the idea and feeling in the work, she uses many different materials. Acrylic, ink, gouache, gel print, collage, etc.
The art has been shown in Sweden as well as in the USA and Italy, and has found buyers in several countries.
Member of the Swedish Artists' Association and the international artist collective Paard Verzameld.
