Hein is a proudly South African photographer, based near Durban.
He picked up his first camera, at the age of 12, when his dad handed him an Agfa point-and-shoot film camera.
His first dip into real photography, and darkroom development, was during his time in Rundu on the Namibia-Angola border. "I loved the process and the technical aspect of making photos."
Years later, he decided to step off the catwalk, modelling outfits for a local agency and started photographing models with his Olympus and a few basic lights supplied by the agency.
Fast forward to 2005, this time with a Canon in hand, photographing for a local motorcycle magazine and events. It wasn’t until 2019 that he started taking the art of photography much more seriously, and the result is what you see here and on his website.
"I love the quiet times with my camera and enjoy working with people on an individual or personal basis."
Every piece showcases his passion for advanced portraiture and fine art photography.
Enjoy!
