Ute Rathmann
Illustrator from Germany · 189 artworks
Ute Rathmann was born in 1975 in North Germany. She studied art in Berlin and currently teaches at the School of Art and Design Berlin Weissensee. She has always been fascinated by the human body and how it relates to clothes, as well as by costumes, fashion and fabrics. The bizarre shapes and colors of vintage clothing deeply influence her, fueling her love for experimentation. Her work is a never-ending process –old drawings get torn to pieces and are brought together in a new way. These old fragments form new canvases on which she draws. Her “final” works can be interpreted as frozen moments in time, parts of an endless inquiry into the human form and nature. Ute currently lives and works in Berlin.
