Thoth Adan is a Swiss-born, Austrian-based artist who gained a BFA (Hons) in Communication Design from Art Center College Design in 1994. The following years he worked simultaneously as a freelance designer, art director, design teacher and artist (mainly focusing on photorealistic portraiture). He exhibited regularly, won some prices and became a committee member of the association of visual arts.
In 2013 he ceased all professional activities and reoriented his artistic work fundamentally – he even changed his name to start afresh. Today his art is deeply inspired by minimal aesthetics and Asian philosophies; stylistically rooted in Eastern art, abstract expressionism and graphic design; preferably working with Japanese Sumi ink and mineral pigments on Washi paper.
